Stocks are poised to extend yesterday's losses, pressured by ongoing consolidation efforts. Weakness from the likes of Qualcomm (QCOM), PayPal (PYPL), and Esty (ESTY) after their earnings reports has acted as a drag on the broader market. Meanwhile, earnings-related gains in Moderna (MRNA), Unity Software (U), and DoorDash (DASH) are providing some offsetting support.
Renewed selling in the Treasury market has been another limiting factor for stocks. The 10-yr note yield is up six basis points to 4.13%. The 2-yr note yield is unchanged at 4.89%.
The Bank of England raised its bank rate by 25 bps to 5.25% and the market largely expects that another 25-bps increase will be announced in September.
